The man who maintained the X before I got it needs shooting, had issues with clutch drag and creep, turned out to be a poorly routed cable which melted itself to the exhaust maybe I should have checked it behind the rad but there you go. Had a leaky forkseal as well and the front end has never felt as good as I thought it should, dismantled the fork leg and some clown had fitted the seal in upside down rant over. Just need to learn to ride it now.

On the plus side it's satisfying to sort things yourself and in the process find out more about the current state of the bike and know that things have been done properly.

I'm sure you're well on the way to making an unloved X into a decent example, and with their rareity it'll hold its value too.
If you only have one plug, it needs to be a good plug!
July 14 - still true, but now have two plugs!

Had a Fastners or two work loose yesterday, nothing lost or serious, need to get the thread lock out, maybe remake the rear splash guard out of alloy instead of stainless. Setting the air shock to hard helped off road but was to hard on the ride home so I have a road setting and off road setting at the turn of a screw. The bike is still way better than me with a real arm that alone a prosthetic.

Looked to me like a bike suited to the best of all worlds, I'd probably buy one assuming it's specd for two-up! Think BMW missed a trick not bringing more of them over...wonder how it compares to the new(ish) G650GS?!

Over 60kg lighter for a start you can get passenger footrests for them from the Xcountry, but the subframe is Alloy and won't take the weight but you can swap to a steel subframe if thats what you want but that defeats the object in my mind.
Next to the fabulous G450X this is the lightest production bike BMW have made for a long time, if not ever.
I am in the process of making pannier frames for it but I'm not intending to do or add much more to it than absolutely necessary.
