Well, it turned out there was a couple more issues at play with the engine, a dead piston and scored bore...





But my local garage saved the bore and I have just ordered a High Compression Piston for it! Project XR is still alive!

Not long!

Piston was meant to be here yesterday, but the royal fail messes up. So it'll be here today, apparently.

I am now stuck whether to try and build it today and run it in at camp and ride tomorrow on an unproven bike, or take the Ducati to this camp... first world problems.

Well, the new piston was late, but arrived today. I must say it is a work or art.


I fitted it and rebuilt the top and again and now to run it in! It is certainly a lot more responsive to the throttle!

It is awesome!

A bit of crap in the float bowl caused a small issue yesterday, for a few minutes, but a quick drain down cleared it. Probably my fault that having atippwd the carb to adjust the needle at camp in the morning.
