I've been looking in to hydrogen fuel cells. I wondered if there was anything for 5 volt phone tech or 12 volt applications etc

found this little baby. Instead of using a rechargeable batt bank if your in locations where you don't have access to recharge a bank.

Or of for my boat a 12v gen set

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you're gonna be up again. But life goes on.

The first one is only £29.99 and £70/£80 everywhere else. So looks like a good deal, if you need this sort of thing. I have seen the Hydrogen refills for £7.50 each. = to 3/6 phone charges.

After reading many reviews it appears that this product doesn't produce stable enough voltage for some devices and is a bit ahead of its time, for now.

Very interesting stuff Ferdie. I have been looking at this tech for a couple of years and now that PV is coming down all the time, it starts to make even more sense ONCE the H storage and fuel cells for vehicles (or power generators) are sorted.

I went to an Energy Conference earlier this week and to me, there was still not enough emphasis on "storing" energy from renewables other than big balloons for methane, and no, I don't mean your tent after a night on the Beans.... Hydrogen offers sooo much more, but the tech is too cutting edge to be viable yet

Yep, nice techie solution to a problem that does not really exist! I like it though personally!

Solar charged battery banks are a better bet still for stuff like mobiles...

Strange thing is that James May (yes he of top gear fame) presented the final episode of cars of? for? the people earlier this week and the hydrogen fuel cell was on it.
I can see it taking of big time, as it's the cleanest planet friendly option, who'd have thought H20 as an exhaust gas, instead of the damaging hydrocarbons etc.
THE END OF THE ROAD IS THE START OF THE FUN

I caught the final 10-15mins of that. Does look one of the ways we will be going in the future. Probably hybrid vehicles...?

The increasing popularity of PV will hopefully make more local battery charging and Hydrogen production more realistic. PV on your house roof, charging the battery pack ready to fast charge your car overnight.
