I just popped in here a fortnight or so ago and was really quite surprised at how quiet it is here now. I am partially a guilty one, as I lost the login details last year when I changed Desktop and for some reason, I hadn't got the login in Chrome!! Mind ABR sems to be a hell of a lot quieter these days too...

Anyone still riding out...?

I was pretty well grounded last year with "Herself" in poor form so I had to cancel my Spring trip Autumn was a non starter, so I ended up with a few days in Ireland on the Big Un. Guess what, it was Ireland so it pissed down... then on the way back to Dublin my crotch was totally filled with hailstones... in September!!

2019 was going to start with a good and challenging trip, as I was putting a ride together with a riding mate from Scotland. We were going to do the Portugal ACT route in May and were pulling together the trip, then his Missus got a little unhappy at the time he would be away... Nearly 3 weeks for him...!! So that was cancelled Spanish ferries are too expensive as a solo and almost impossible to get a crossing now. So, Pah!

I am now wondering about a run through France to N Portugal and then ride down and then a 3/4 days run back from the Algarve to N France. Don't really fancy that much road work on the NX400 though... Decisions decisions! Plan C was maybe to have the liitle bike taken to Faro or Malage and fly and collect it then ride S to North.

Anyone doing anything this time??

Hi Steve,

I'm guilty of not checking in on the forum too, must be 10 months or so since I last logged in my excuse is that we have a group on facebook and with posts going on there I don't check on here. I think a lot of the forums are going the same way which is a shame as there's a fair few who don't do facebook, with that in mind I'll post on here about the Safari.

It’s a real shame really, but Facebook is even competing with eBay for selling and buying and even owns whatsapp which is a big player in the messaging world!

I hope you can join us on the Safari Steve!

Thank you Ben. I would truly loved to have come across and joined in for the weekend. However, I have given a solemn undertaking to SWMBO, to go on a day trip on the 11th. A Loco trip from Shropshire to Kent and back again!

But guess where I would prefer to be

IKWYM about FB, I have had to join to get infor on AJP and my newest steed, the SWM. It's OK for a low traffic family and small groups, but in my view a horror otherwise! I still prefer a forum

Whatsapp is good for small scale comms I have found and I mod 4-5 for specific purposes, but it soon gets out of hand with more than 5-6 in a Group I found.

Cheers Dan.

As I said to Ben, I do not use FB, unless except under serious pressure. I was the Chairman of our local PC for 10 years and our new Chair and clerk are very gung ho on setting up a FB page. "Off you go" was my response...

My take is for FB users, they are engaged 24/7, but the rest of the world misses them by... Twitter is even worse!! I know a local girl who was astonished that I was not following some obscure local FB page... "But you should" was her response...

Anyway, Luddite mode... Off!

Will do definitely Ben. I've got a new toy that needs some dirt on it's wheels before crossing the Channel a bit later in the summer, and some Norfolk sand would be a bonus!!
