Signing up
Hello and welcome to the annual ATR Thetford Safari; starting with the important formalities which follows the usual MO, anyone who would like to attend please add their name to the list below indicating how many people will be attending, eg:- MrX +1 = 2 people, plus whether they'd like to do a trail, road ride or perhaps venture out into the surrounding countryside exploring by themselves?
What you are signing up for
As the rally name suggests the trail rides will be around the Thetford forest areas which offer some great trails and beautiful scenery; Thetford boasts a good mix of trails from grass to sand, personally I'd say that there are trails that anyone of any ability will enjoy, however if anyone prefers to have a day out on the roads Graham (SGR) has kindly offered his services again this year to lead a road ride for those that are either taking pillions or just want to view some of the amazing places that the surrounding countryside has to offer.
Last years ride was indeed pretty varied from Sunny Hunny (Hunstanton) with it's pier, fish and chip lunches and a well known bike meeting place, to a tank museum, I don't think that you could get more varied than that, and judging by the smiling faces and talk around the camp later in the evening; if you decide on the road ride you won't be disappointed.
This really isn't one to miss as he knows some great roads with even better destinations / places of interest.
So all that's left to add is that all at ATR hope that this years Safari will be even better than the last few of years, and may we wish all attendees a very happy and memorable time.
A brief history behind the event.
Those of you who have attended in the past will know what a great time that was had at the previous years events.
Initially born from a meeting of XRV and ABR forum members, we all camped at Applewood camp and caravan park, Banham NR16 2HE for a great weekends riding and of course camping...

Some might know that the "Safari" takes it's name from the hosting campsite which is in the grounds of Banham Zoo; now imagine if you will a morning wake up call like no other that you've experienced this side of Africa; monkeys calling amongst the sounds of other animals makes for a very different and memorable experience, thus the ATR Monkey appearing on this and previous invitations.
With some some great roads and trails and fantastic company; this years promises to be even better, with even more smiles per mile.
Below are a couple of pictures from last years.

Legal Stuff, and reminders
We appreciate that there is a temptation to switch off when it comes to the headings above, but please take a moment to read the following; even if it's to reaffirm what you already know.
Legal.
Whether you select a road or trail ride, you are governed by the same laws, to which your motorcycle must be taxed, mot'd and insured.
Now that might be stating the blindingly obvious, however it's easy to forget to renew an mot, or tax etc.
Reminders.
We at ATR take the view that we are guests to the countryside in which we are fortunate enough to enjoy.
As such we take pride in sharing the environment with other users whether they are motorised, on foot or on horseback.
There may be certain peculiarities concerning walkers, to which we quite often come across people walking their dogs, which can be off leads.
It goes without saying that it is good practice to bear in mind the needs of horse riders, the normal courtesies apply, plenty of room, slow and as quiet as possible is appreciated.
Finally 99.9% of users are just like you and I, I.E. enjoying the surroundings; however there could be the odd idiot who wants the trails all to him or herself, please treat them with respect no matter the provocation, and report any incidents to the organisers, who will take appropriate action.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
